Samphire Dog Training Club
Welcome to Samphire Dog Training Club
Samphire Dog Training Club is a friendly, community-focused club based in Capel-Le-Ferne, between Folkestone and Dover. We are a Kennel Club Accredited club offering fun, rewarding weekly classes for dogs of all breeds and ages. Classes are held on Monday and Thursday evenings. Details of classes and times are included
on this website.
We promote responsible dog ownership through the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, running Bronze, Silver and Gold level classes and a range of other classes for differing abilities.
We also offer a welcoming Puppy/young dog/ and rehomed Foundation Course for new owners who want to start off on the right paw.
For those looking for something a little different, our members also have the opportunity to join the Samphire Heelwork to Music Display Team, performing engaging routines at local fetes and community events throughout the year.
Whether you’re just starting out with a young puppy or looking to develop your dog’s skills further, we offer training in a supportive and sociable environment. We are proud to be part of the local community and love seeing dogs and their owners thrive together.
Feel free to explore our website to find out more about our classes, upcoming events, and how to get involved – and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to join us.

Our Dog Training Journey
Samphire Dog Training Club was founded in 2017 by Tina Wiles, a passionate and experienced dog trainer with a long-standing commitment to promoting responsible dog ownership in the local community.
Tina has been involved with the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme since 2008 and became a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor in 2019. As the club’s Kennel Club Coordinator and a Kennel Club Assessor for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, Tina leads the club with a calm, supportive approach that helps both dogs and their handlers gain confidence and enjoy their training journey.
Tina is supported by a dedicated team of instructors:

-
Sue: Sue has been a valued instructor at Samphire Dog Training Club since 2017. With a lifelong commitment to rehomed dogs, Sue draws on her own experiences to support and guide owners who have given a second chance to their canine companions. Her insight into the unique challenges and rewards of rehoming allows her to offer practical, empathetic advice that resonates with many of the Club’s members. Sue teaches a range of classes across the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, creating a warm, hands-on training environment where both dogs and owners can thrive. Her friendly and encouraging approach helps to build confidence and trust, making training an enjoyable and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
-
Fiona: Fiona brings a lifetime of experience as a dedicated dog owner, handler, and breeder. A passionate advocate for responsible dog ownership, Fiona has owned and trained dogs all her life and is particularly well known for breeding and showing Shih Tzus at the highest level. Her dogs are not only successful in the show ring but also actively participate in Club training classes, reflecting her well-rounded approach to both form and function. Fiona shares her deep knowledge across every aspect of dog care — from grooming and health maintenance to movement, behaviour, and breed conformation. Fiona joined Samphire Dog Training Club as a member in 2017 and an instructor in 2020, and since then has taught a wide variety of classes, including the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme and the Puppy Foundation course. Fiona has a particular interest in helping dogs at the start of their obedience journey and those settling into a new home, and her teaching style is warm, supportive, and rooted in practical experience.
Heelwork to Music Formation Team
In addition to regular classes, the club runs a lively Heelwork to Music Formation Team. The team prepares for the display season by rehearsing musical and movement elements before combining them into a full routine. Performances take place at local events and summer fetes, offering an entertaining and engaging way to promote positive training and responsible dog ownership within the community.
Samphire Dog Training Club also organises social walks at beautiful local spots such as Samphire Hoe. These relaxed outings offer dogs the chance to explore new environments and owners the opportunity to chat, connect, and enjoy refreshments together after the walk. They’re a highlight of the club calendar and a great way to build friendships — both two- and four-legged!
Together, the team at Samphire Dog Training Club provides a warm, sociable and supportive environment for anyone looking to strengthen their bond with their dog.

Jacqueline
My beloved 4-paws really enjoy coming to Samphire Dog Training Club. We have both learnt so much with the Good Citizen Scheme. It’s good socialisation and the club really wants the dogs to achieve their best. Would recommend!
Sandra
I have known Tina for many years and have trained at Samphire, and her previous dog training club, with 3 of my shih tzus. All 3 have reached Gold Good Citizen from the initial Puppy Foundation Course. I cannot speak more highly of Samphire Dog Training. Training is always approached with a positive outlook and much fun is had too. It’s wonderful to see the puppies learn and the dogs further down the road gain their certificates at assessment evenings. Come along and join us. Everyone is friendly and I look forward to my Monday class every week. We also have great fun and competition amongst the owners at the annual Christmas party!
Steve
Both Oakley and I have thoroughly enjoyed attending Samphire Dog Training Club for the past couple of years. As a slightly older rescue, Oakley has needed a bit more time to learn compared to some of the other dogs, and Tina has shown incredible patience and understanding throughout the journey. Tina goes above and beyond the basics of dog training. Recently she has helped train Oakley to use steps to get in and out of the car on his own. Her dedication and personalised approach have made a significant difference in Oakley’s progress and have enabled us to go out and do things without her help that otherwise would not have been possible without her help. Thank you for everything!
